Bruce Fraser wurde 1947 in Indien geboren und seine Ausbildung erhielt er in Schottland. Nach dem Besuch der "Royal Scottish Academy of Music" und einem kurzen Aufenthalt an der "Guildhall" schloß er sich dem "Telefis Eireann Symphony Orchestra" in Dublin an. Anschließend kehrte er nach Schottland als Instrumentallehrer und freischaffender Posaunist zurück, wobei er mit der "Scottish Opera", mit dem "Scottish Chamber Orchestra", dem "Scottish Ballet" und dem "BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra" zusammen arbeitete. Ernsthaft zu komponieren begann er dann in den 70-iger Jahren für Schulkombinationen und bald war er als Auftragskomponist für verschiedene Profi- und Amateurgruppen gefragt. Als Lehrer verstand er sehr wohl die Bedürfnisse des Musikerziehers und auch als Dirigent mit Brass Bands, Wind Bands und einer großen Chorgemeinschaft war er sehr erfolgreich tätig. Sehr involviert ist er auch mit der "British Association of Symphonic Bands and Wind Ensembles" und er arbeitet auch als Berater für die "National School Band Association". Kürzliche Auftragskompositionen von ihm sind "The Three Perils of Man" für das "Borders Festival", daß vom "Borders Wind Orchestra" uraufgeführt wurde, weiters "The Visit" für die "Anstruther Philharmonic Society", ein 15-minütiges Choralwerk, sowie eine Konzertouvertüre mit dem Titel "Panache" geschrieben für die "Royal Marines" und zwei kürzliche Auftragswerke für Brassband "1382" für das "Solothurn Music Festival" in der Schweiz und "Pioneer" für den "Carnegie Invitation Band Contest".

Bruce Fraser was born in India in 1947 and educated in Scotland. After attending the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and a short spell at Guildhall he took a position with the Telefis Eireann Symphony Orchestra in Dublin. He then settled back in Scotland as an instrumental teacher and freelance trombone player, working with Scottish Opera, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Scottish Ballet and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. He began writing seriously in the seventies for school combinations and soon was in demand to write commissions for various groups, professional and amateur. As a teacher himself he well understands the music educator's needs, and he is also active as a conductor with a Brass Band, Wind Band and a large Choral Society under his guidance. He is also very involved with the British Association of Symphonic Bands and Wind Ensembles and is a consultant to the National School Band Association. Recent commissions are "The Three Perils of Man" for the Borders Festival, which was premièred by the Borders Wind Orchestra, "The Visit" for Anstruther Philharmonic Society (a 15 minute choral work) a concert overture called "Panache" for the Band of the Royal Marines and two recent Brass Band commissions - "1382" for the Solothurn Music Festival in Switzerland, and "Pioneer" for the Carnegie Invitation Band Contest.
