John Boyd ist der Direktor der Band Organisation der "Indiana State University". Gebürtig in Manhattan, Kansas, besuchte Dr. Boyd die "Northwestern University", wo er den "Bachelor of Music in Eduacation" erhielt, sowie den "Master of Music". 1981 beendete er sein Studium an der "University of Missouri-Kansas City" mit dem "Degreee of Doctor of Musical Arts". Später nahm er noch Dirigierstunden bei John Paynter, Bernard Rubenstein und Crawford Gates. Bevor Dr. Boyd in die "Indiana State University" 1989 eintrat, lehrte er an der "Northern Illinois University", und der "Wichita State University", der "Kent State University" und der "University of Arizona". Dr. Boyd ist als Arrangeur und Komponist in allen Formen der Wind Band Organisation aktiv tätig und er hat auch viele Werke veröffentlicht. Er ist als Gastdirigent und Vortragender in vielen amerikanischen Staaten tätig und er ist als aktives Mitglied der "College Band Directors National Association", ASCAP, tätig.

John Boyd is Director of Band Organizations at Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Indiana. A native of Manhatten, Kansas, Dr. Boyd attended Northwestern University where he received the degrees of Bachelor of Music in Education and Master of Music. In 1981, he received the degreee of Doctor of Musical Arts, from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Boyd did advanced study in conducting with John Paynter, Bernard Rubenstein, and Crawford Gates. Prior to joining the Indiana State University faculty in 1989, Dr. Boyd tought at Northern Illinois University, Wichita State University, Kent State University, and the University of Arizona. Dr. Boyd is active as an arranger and composer for all forms of wind band organizations and has many published works. He has served as a guest conductor and clinician in many of the midwestern states and is active in the College Band Directors National Association, Music Educators National Conferende, ASCAP.
