Thomas Stone machte sein Diplomarbeite an der "Lawrence University", wo er bei Steven Stucky Komposition studierte. Sein "Master's degree" absolvierte er an der "DePaul University". Weiters machte er seinen "Doctor of Musical Arts Degree" in "wind conducting" an der "University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music", wo er ein Schüler von Eugene Corporon war. Sechs Jahre lang war er dann Direktor der Instrumentalmusik an der "Latin School of Chicago". In der Folge diente er als Komponist an der "Saskatchewan School for the Arts" während des Sommers 1988 und 1989 wurde er dann an der "Bolles School" in Jacksonville, Florida zum Banddirektor ernannt. Seine beide ersten Veröffentlichungen für Band "Shadows of Eternity" und "Mentor" wurden von der "Yamaha Corporation of Japan" in die Liste der 100 besten Bandkompositionen der Jahre 1992 und 1993 eingetragen. Sein Artikel "Morton Gould: Champion of the Band" wurde im Jänner 1995 veröffentlicht. Derzeit arbeitet er als Dirigent eines Windensembles und stellvertretender Musikprofessor am "Centenary College".

Thomas Stone received his Bachelor's degree from Lawrence University, where he studied composition with Steven Stucky, and his Master's degree from DePaul University. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in wind conducting from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, where he was a student of Eugene Corporon. For six years, he was Director of Instrumental Music at the Latin School of Chicago. Mr. Stone served as Composer/Conductor-in-Residence at the Saskatchewan School for the Arts during the summer of 1988, and in 1989, he was appointed Director of Bands at the Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida. His first two published works for band, "Shadows of Eternity" and "Mentor", were selected by the Yamaha Corporation of Japan for its list of "100 Best Compositions for Bands" in 1992 and 1993, respectively. His article, "Morton Gould: Champion of the Band", was published in the January 1995 issue of BD Guide. He is currently Conductor of the Wind Ensemble and Assistant Professor of Music at Centenary College, a post he assumed in the fall of 1995.
