Victor Herbert ist für seine Erfolge im Opernfeld bekannt. (The Fortune Teller, Babes in Toyland, Naughty Marietta, etc.) Geboren in Irland erhielt er anschließlich seine Ausbildung in Deutschland. Nach Amerika kam er 1886 um das erste Cello in der "Metropolitan Opera Orchestra" in New York zu spielen. Er wurde Bandführer der "22nd Regiment Band" der "New York National Guard", sowie Dirigent des "Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra" (1894-1898).

Victor Herbert is best known for his many notable successes in the light opera field (The Fortune Teller, Babes in Toyland, Naughty Marietta, etc.) Born in Ireland and educated in Germany, he came to this country in 1886 to play First Cello in the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra (New York). He was Bandmaster of the 22nd Regiment Band of the New York National Guard (1894-1898), and Conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (1898-1904).
